Town of Oakland Notice of Position Vacancy Fire Chief

The Town of Oakland is accepting resumes for the position of Fire Chief through April 23, 2014.

This position directs, plans, and manages all fire fighting, fire prevention, emergency medical services, and emergency management activities for the protection of life and property in the Town of Oakland. Position plans, coordinates, and directs operations of a combination staffed municipal fire department under the direction of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. Position requires a strong background in fire administration, personnel management, and budget administration with minimum seven years of fire supervisory experience or possess Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Fire Science, or similar field with three years fire supervisory experience.

Minimum certifications:  State of Tennessee Fire Fighter II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer I, Hazardous Materials Operations, Advanced EMT, Class D drivers license with “F” endorsement, and possess Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance Fire Inspector I or obtain within one year of hire date. Thorough knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, ISO, TOSHA, International Fire Code, Tennessee Emergency Medical Services Rules and Regulations, and General Industry Standards required. Selection for position will require background check, drug screening, and pre-employment medical examination.
