Senior Volunteer Patrol

Volunteers for the Oakland Police Department, Senior Volunteer Patrol are needed. Must be 50 years of age or older, be in good physical condition with a valid Tennessee driver’s license, a full-time resident of the City of Oakland, willing to work 16 hours per month (patrol shift hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and must pass background screening.

Training will be provided for all aspects of the Senior Volunteer Patrol personnel. Uniforms are required but not furnished. Some of the duties that will be required are as follow: Elder citizen checks, persons with known disabilities, vacation house checks, City involved special events and updating infrastructure Intel or any other necessities that require the police departments attention. First meeting for the Senior Volunteer Patrol will be October 24, 2013 at 6:00 pm in the Oakland police Department patrol room, located at city hall 170 Doss circle.      

Anyone, male or female, interested in becoming a member of the Senior Volunteer Patrol can print a copy of the volunteer patrol application on the city of Oakland web site ( or contact Oakland Police Department traffic clerk at (901) 465-0070. All applications will need to be turned back in to Oakland Police Department.
